HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Hypertension | Basic knowledge

Hypertension ( High blood pressure ) is a chronic disease that causes many complications and has a high mortality rate. In fact, many people have high blood pressure for many years without knowing it, until they went to see a doctor or had complications. The danger is caused by Hypertension before you know you have the disease. In order not to face future complications, you need to have knowledge of this disease.

1. What is Hypertension?

Hypertension-1

✅ Hypertension occurs when the blood pressure on artery walls is higher than normal. You can have high blood pressure for years without any symptoms. Although there are no symptoms, in the long term you can develop serious hypertension complications, including heart attack and stroke.
✅ For you who don’t know: Blood pressure is determined by the amount of blood that the heart pumps into a blood vessel and how the vessel wall responds to it. The more blood your heart pumps and the narrowed arteries, the higher your blood pressure. Specifically, organs in the body need oxygen to survive and oxygen is transported to the organs through the blood. When the heartbeats, it creates pressure that pushes blood through a network of tubular arteries and veins. Blood pressure is the result of two forces: The first force is blood pumps out of the heart and into arteries. The second force is generated when the blood returns to the heart. These two forces are represented by the numbers in blood pressure measurement: systolic blood pressure (the number before) and diastolic blood pressure (the number behind).

2. Do you have Hypertension ?

If you have a blood pressure monitor, I would like to provide the following:

Hypertension-2

✅ When measuring blood pressure, people use two measurements: systolic blood pressure (the number before) and diastolic blood pressure (the number behind) such as 120 over 80 (written as 120/80 mmHg). You have high blood pressure when one or both of the indicators are too high for normal (note: the following indicators apply to people who do not take blood pressure medication and have no history of the disease.)

  • Normal blood pressure is almost lower than 120 / 80mmHg.
  • Hypertension ( High blood pressure ) is when your blood pressure reaches 140 / 90mmHg or higher for a long time.
  • If your blood pressure reading is 120 / 80mmHg or higher, but less than 140 / 90mmHg, it’s pre-hypertension.

3. The cause of high blood pressure

First of all, I want to talk about the cause of it, There are two types of Hypertension with different causes:

  • Idiopathic hypertension: no specific cause. In this case, hypertension is usually genetic and more common in men than in women.
  • Secondary hypertension: is the result of a number of diseases such as kidney disease, thyroid disease, adrenal adenoma or contraceptive use, cold medicine, cocaine, or excessive alcohol consumption.
  • In addition, the disease is also seen in overweight people or your diet has too much salt, tobacco, alcohol, or too little potassium, vitamin D.
Hypertension-3

✅ Hypertension is quite serious because there are almost no signs or symptoms other than some common symptoms of hypertension such as headache, shortness of breath, or nosebleeds. However, the signs and symptoms above are also not clear and usually do not occur until the disease has reached a stage of serious or life-threatening.

👨‍⚕️ The advice here is to have your blood pressure checked periodically, which is very easy to do, and besides knowing if you have high blood pressure, you will soon discover other related diseases.

5. How dangerous is Hypertension?

Hypertension-4

✅ High blood pressure is gradually becoming a common disease and has increased mortality in the world. The disease occurs silently and has no obvious manifestations until you discover you have high blood pressure, then there are serious consequences. Complications that can occur when having high blood pressure include:

  • Complications of the brain: stroke, hemiplegia, or body, stroke is one of the common manifestations in the brain in hypertension. The cause may be due to ruptured cerebral aneurysm, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, …
  • Heart complications: coronary heart disease, heart failure leading to shortness of breath, chest tightness is a typical manifestation of hypertension. Myocardial ischemia leads to dizziness and dizziness. Severe cases can lead to myocardial infarction, heart failure.
  • Kidney complications: The damage to the blood vessels of the kidney by high blood pressure can lead to kidney failure.
  • Complications in the eyes: Very small blood vessels in the eye are very vulnerable to high blood pressure causing retinopathy. Patients with vision loss, severe may be blind.
